How to Buy a Tuxedo Vest

  • Organize your vest with the rest of your wedding party if you will be wearing this tux for a wedding. The vest should clearly differentiate the groom from the groomsmen, but in general, the dress of the entire wedding party should match.

  • Choose a gray vest for morning or daytime events. Typically the tuxedo will also be gray for these types of events.

  • Keep away from bright colors or patterns for formal events. If the event is more cheerful, you can find tuxedo vests with patterns and images.

  • Purchase a vest with a pique collar for formal evening events. Regularly this style of vest should only be worn in white or black. You can also acquire a brocade or colored version for less-formal events.

  • Decide between a full-back or backless vest. A backless vest may appear less bulky below a jacket, but your jacket should remain on at all times if you are wearing one. Backless vests may have adaptable necks for better sizing.

  • Think an adjustable full-back vest that can be sized in casing your weight changes. This is a less-formal option, but the adjustable straps can be concealed by your coat.

  • Keep more than one vest in your covert to change up your tuxedo for dissimilar events. This lets you look and feel fresh, still if you only own one tux.
